First black hole for light created on Earth →

An electromagnetic black hole — which sucks in the light surrounding it — has been built at Southeast University in Nanjing, China for the first time. The device works like cosmological black holes in that it has gravity which is intense enough to bend the surrounding space-time, causing any matter in the neighborhood to spiral inward and create the hole itself. The earth-built ‘black hole’ for microwave frequencies is constructed of 60 annular strips of meta-materials (yes, that’s the stuff of invisibility cloaks). Each strip is an intricately etched circuit board which seamlessly and smoothly connects to the strips next to it, creating both a shell and absorber section to the device. When an electromagnetic wave hits the device, it is trapped and guided through the shell region toward the core, where it is absorbed. The device, which was created by Tie Jun Cui and Qiang Cheng, converts that absorbed light into heat, meaning that future possible applications could include new ways of harvesting solar energy.

Berita tak penting hari ini: Isu Vampir Seksi Resahkan Warga Pidie
Jakarta - Isu vampir seksi yang hobi menghisap darah jejaka menyebar di Kabupaten Batee, Pidie, Nanggroe Aceh Darussalam (NAD). Isu itu pun meresahkan warga sekitar.
Mufliadi, warga Batee mengaku sudah mendengar isu tersebut dan sempat dibuat takut. “Pertama dengar ya takut,” kata Mufliadi, warga Batee kepada detikcom, Kamis (15/10/2009).
Keresahan juga menyebar ke daerah Delima, dekat Batee. Azwani, warga Delima menuturkan, sempat ada instruksi khusus menyikapi isu munculnya vampir seksi.
Menurut Azwani, tiap orang yang meronda di malam hari diperintahkan memukul anjing atau kucing yang berwarna hitam.
“Kata orang binatang yang warna hitam kayak kucing atau anjing mesti dipukul lantaran isu itu,” jelas Azwani.
Namun hingga kini kebenaran isu itu tersebut masih simpang siur. “Ceritanya kayak gitu. Tapi belum jelas masih simpang siur. Tapi sudah takut juga,” ungkapnya.
Kabid Humad Polda NAD, Kombes Pol Farid Ahmad, Rabu (14/10/2009) kemarin, menyatakan polisi masih menelusuri isu vampir seksi di Pidie. Isu meresahkan itu muncul atas laporan seorang warga bernama Fakrul (19).
Dalam laporannya, Fakrul mengaku sempat berkelahi sengit dengan seorang perempuan yang mencoba menggigit lehernya. Si perempuan awalnya berbentuk binatang mirip seekor kucing. Binatang ini datang ketika Fakrul hendak tidur.
Fakrul berusaha mengusir si kucing. Namun tiba-tiba binatang itu menjelma menjadi manusia. Ia berubah wujud menjadi seorang wanita berkulit putih, berambut panjang, dengan tinggi badan mencapai dua meter, dan bentuk badannya besar ramping. Wanita itu mencoba menggigit leher Fakrul.
